The Detroit Tigers are set to call up Canadian outfielder Jacob Robson, according to Chris McCosky of the Detroit News.

Robson, a Windsor, Ont., native, has been impressive with the Tigers’ triple-A Toledo Mud Hens this season, posting a .397 on-base percentage in 51 games. He has 49 hits - including nine doubles and five home runs - and has registered 13 stolen bases for the Mud Hens.

The 5-foot-10 outfielder was promoted to triple-A after batting .424 in 18 games with the double-A Erie SeaWolves to begin the season.

Selected in the eighth round of the 2016 MLB draft out of Mississippi State University, he has spent parts of six minor league seasons in the Tigers organization.

Prior to his collegiate and pro career, he honed his skills with the Windsor Selects, Ontario Blue Jays and the Junior National Team. Earlier this year, he was a standout offensively and defensively for Canada in the Americas Olympic Qualifier in Florida. At the plate, he went 8-for-19 (.421 batting average) and he made several standout plays in left field.

Robson is set to become the first Canadian to suit up for the Detroit Tigers since Jim Adduci (Burnaby, B.C.) in 2018 and the 13th Canuck to play in the big leagues this season.
