Manchester, N.H. - The Eastern League has named Fisher Cats RHP Jordan Romano Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 16 - 22.

In two starts, Romano allowed just two runs in 14 2/3 innings (1.23 ERA), with 12 strikeouts and one walk. The 25-year-old from Markham, Ontario led the Fisher Cats to a win over the Trenton Thunder on Monday (6 2/3 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 4 K) and put together one of the most impressive starts of his career on Saturday against the Harrisburg Senators.

Romano held Harrisburg scoreless over a career-high eight innings, scattering three singles and striking out a season-high eight batters. He retired the final 12 hitters he faced, and improved to 9-4 with a 3.55 ERA this season.

In his first nine starts of the year, Romano went 9-0 with a 2.04 ERA, and earned the start for the Eastern Division in the Eastern League All-Star Game.

Romano is the second Fisher Cat to earn Pitcher of the Week honours this season, joining fellow All-Star T.J. Zeuch (June 11 - 17).

The Blue Jays selected Romano in the 10th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Oral Roberts University. He is currently ranked No. 27 among Blue Jays prospects by MLB.com.
