Royals win again in Welland

WELLAND, ONT. – Conner Morro singled, doubled and drove in three in Guelph’s 12-3 Game 3 win Sunday in Welland.

The Royals have taken both meetings in the Rose City and lead the best-of-five semifinal 2-1. Josh Garton went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Frankin Torres drove in two on a pair of hits and scored three times, J.D. Williams had two RBIs, and Garrett Takamatsu and Ethan Hammond each drove in a run.

Kyle Thomas (2-0) went five innings for the win. He allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. Drew Durst earned the four-inning save. He struck out three and dealt with just two baserunners.

Jake Sanford and Ethan Hunt each drove in a run for the Jackfish. Steven Moretto doubled and scored.

Enrique Saldana (1-1) was pulled with two outs in the first inning. He was tagged with three runs on three hits and two walks.

Baycats take stranglehold on Majors

LONDON, ONT. – Barrie is one win from its second straight playoff series sweep.

Ryan Rijo and Nolan Machibroda both hit solo home runs in the Baycats’ 8-6 win Sunday in London. Barrie leads the best-of-five semifinal 2-0 and can advance to the final with a victory on Monday.

Adam Odd delivered a bases-clearing double in the fifth inning to give Barrie a 6-0 lead. Brandon Hernandez, Royce Ando and Tyler Plumpton all had two hits and an RBI. Hayden Jaco singled twice and scored.

Cesar Rosado (2-0) struck out 11 over seven innings. He allowed three runs on six hits.

Kaiden Cardoso went 3-for-5 with three RBIs for the Majors. Gibson Krzeminski singled twice and scored twice.

Victor Payano (2-1) was charged with six runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out seven.
