Selection Camp invitees announced for Americas U-18 Baseball World Cup Qualifier

OTTAWA, Ont.- Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of the 27 athletes invited to the Junior National Team’s (U-18) Selection Camp set to take place at USA Baseball’s National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. from July 24 to July 30.

Following camp, 20 athletes will be selected to represent Canada at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Americas U-18 Baseball World Cup Qualifier in Panama City, Panama from August 2 to August 11.

Canada will be one of 14 competing nations in Panama, with the goal of earning one of three available spots in the 2025 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup.

The Selection Camp will see the Junior National Team play three exhibition games against USA Baseball National Team Development Program squads before facing the finalized U-18 USA National Team during the last two days of camp.

Head coach and director of men’s national teams Greg Hamilton leads the coaching staff that includes former National Team and professional players Chris Begg, Dustin Molleken, Pete Orr, and Rene Tosoni.

Roster Note

Two players named to the roster represented Canada at the 2022 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup Qualifier in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico including RHP Tate Carey (Windsor, Ont.) and RHP Michael Yusypchuk (Edmonton, Alta.).
