Seven-run sixth moves London Majors to within win of IBL title

LONDON, Ont. – London moved one win from a second straight Dominico Cup title following an 8-3 win over Toronto Tuesday night at Labatt Park.
The Majors erased a 2-1 deficit and took control with a seven-run sixth inning, taking advantage of six hits, two walks, a wild pitch and a hit batter.
London leads the best-of-seven series 3-2 and can clinch the title Thursday in Toronto.
Jakob Newton went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs in the win. Phil Whelan drove in two, while Chris McQueen and Robert Mullen each had an RBI.
Daniel Gore (2-0) picked up the win in relief, allowing an earned run on four hits over 2 1/3 innings. He walked two and didn’t register a strikeout. Fernando Fernandez started and went five innings, giving up a run on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
For Toronto, Jose Vinicio went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two steals. Connor Lewis drove in two and Greg Carrington singled twice.
Dylan Jacober (3-1) took the loss, giving up four runs on four hits in two innings. He walked three and fanned two. He took over for starter Sam Greene, who walked four and struck out three over three scoreless, hitless innings.
