After watching Team Ontario Grey win a championship the prior weekend in Atlanta, the Orange squad came out looking for a championship of their own.
The team flexed their muscle on the first day in Indianapolis in the Pastime Wood Bat National championship.
On opening day, they won via the mercy rule in both games and saw complete games from Jax Nyberg (Ajax, Ont.) and Sheadon Sullivan (Elora, Ont.).
Championship Saturday was filled with drama and excitement as Christian Fava (Vaughan, Ont.) had a strong start in a semi-final match up that went down to the wire. Will Jackson (Barrie, Ont.) stepped up to the plate with one out and runners on second and third when he drove a ball deep to right field for a walk-off single to send Team Ontario to the championship game against Precision Baseball.
The championship game against Precision was just as intense the semi-final. Precision jumped out to an early 6-0 lead but the bats quickly began chipping away and ultimately exploded for eight unanswered runs. Matt Marsh (Havelock, Ont.) got the start in the championship game and Brandon Marimuthu (Whitby, Ont.) was strong in relief to close out the game.
It was another strong performance on the big stage for Team Ontario and was the second tournament win as many weekends. It was a strong fall for the Grey College Prep team and it was no surprise to see their game elevate when it mattered most in Indianapolis.
