Terriers' grads Ellis, Karosas, Mahoney, O’Halloran shine in U.S. college ranks

Ontario Terrier graduates continued to play well for their college teams this past week.

Ellis the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week

Left-hander Campbell Ellis spun four scoreless innings in his start for Virginia Commonwealth University. He held George Washington hitters to three hits and two walks, while striking out five to pick up the victory.

For his performance, he was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Mahoney finishes regular season strong

Jacob Mahoney had eight hits, a walk, and four RBIs for Lake Michigan in six games. He went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in a 16-0 victory over Muskegon. The infielder finishes the regular season with a .349 average.

O'Halloran helps Wolverines to Game 1 win

Friday night starter Connor O'Halloran of the Michigan Wolverines pitched into the sixth inning in an 8-4 Game 1 victory over Indiana. O'Halloran threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Other O'Halloran hits

Older brother Ryan O'Halloran put up two hits and walked twice for Butler in their three-game series against Xavier. Unfortunately for the former Terrier, the Bulldogs were swept.

Brown throws seven in loss

Matt Brown lasted seven innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits in a 7-5 loss to John A. Logan. He issued a pair of walks and struck out five.

Karosas, Kats make it 18 straight

The Kats are rolling. AJ Karosas contributed eight hits, four walks, 12 RBIs and a stolen base in six games for Erie Community College. During an 11-1 Game 4 win over Tompkins Cortland to close out the week, he went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. The Kats won all six games to push their win streak to 18.

Abram goes two scoreless against TCU

Ben Abram came out of the Oklahoma bullpen and threw two scoreless innings of relief in a 9-7 Game 1 loss to Texas Christian University. The right-hander struck out three.

Forgione with four hits

He only played two games but catcher Cristian Forgione managed four hits, a walk and three RBIs for St. Lawrence University. He swatted a solo home run in a 5-4 win over Vassar in the back-half of their doubleheader.

Johnson jumps all over opposing pitchers

Dylan Johnson put together four hits and four walks for Adrian College this past week. Next up for the Bulldogs is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament opener against Kalamazoo. They should be well prepared as they're coming off a three-game series with the Hornets to close out the regular season.

Russell drives in a run

Dual player Julian Russell had a hit and drove in a run for Alderson Broaddus in their 17-5 loss to Wheeling.

Ward has big Game 3

Matt Ward went 3-for-6 with solo home run and a walk as the Niagara Purple Eagles dropped their series finale to Canisius 8-7 in 14 innings. In Game 2, he had a hit, a walk and was hit by a pitch. The Purple Eagles took two of three and have now won four straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series.

Wojtarowicz locks down save, then starts

Frontier Community College turned the ball over to Andre Wojtarowicz to close out a 6-5 win over Southeastern Illinois. Wojtarowicz came through with two scoreless innings of work. He surrendered a hit and struck out two to earn his first save.

The left-hander then made the start in a 3-0 loss to Olney Central. He tossed 5 1/3 innings and allowed three runs (one earned) on seven hits and struck out seven.

Gomm steals a pair

Austin Gomm collected a hit, a walk, an RBI and two stolen bases for Parkland. The Cobras beat Millikin University 16-5.

Sanasie-Edwards gets on in loss

Outfielder Ethan Sanasie-Edwards had a hit and an RBI in St. Clair County's loss to Lansing in Game 3 of their series.
