Terriers' Chee-Aloy named MVP of CPBL All-Star series

The top baseball talent in the province assembled in Dorchester, Ont., this past weekend for a three-game All-Star series. ‎The players competing were selected by a contingent of pro scouts.

When the dust settled Sunday afternoon, Terriers centre fielder Cameron Chee-Aloy walked away with MVP honours.

This was pretty impressive for a 16-year-old competing against several players that are two years his senior, and are targets in the 2021 MLB Draft. A few have also committed to NCAA D1 programs.

Cameron smashed two home runs, a double and went 5-11 (.455) at the plate. That was good for six RBIs. He also swiped two bases. In the outfield Cameron ran down several balls that were hit in the gaps and over his head. His plus speed and cat-like instincts made those difficult plays look routine. ‎He also possesses a live upper 80s arm.

Several other Terriers also had an impact at the event. Catcher Colin Cymbalista flashed a great arm from behind the plate, had a hit and two RBIs.

RHP Matt Brown fired three excellent innings Friday afternoon. ‎He struck out three and did not walk a batter. His blend of three-plus pitches ( FB 88 SL 80 CH 76) generally resulted in weak contact.

Lefty Jordan Woods worked three innings of his own on Saturday. He topped at 86 mph and struck out six.

Righthander ‎Dylan Oborne also pitched three innings, working his fastball up to 87 mph. Crafty lefty Rhys Montgomery allowed just one hit and got six outs while Andre Wojtarowicz wrapped up Sunday afternoon with two quality innings, allowing just one hit and lighting up the radar guns at 89 mph from the left side.
