It was another successful week for former Ontario Terriers on the college baseball circuit.
Ward hits first home run
Matt Ward had six hits, a walk, two RBIs, four runs, and was hit by a pitch in Niagara University's four-game series with UNC Asheville. One of his hits was his first college home run, a two-run shot in the Purple Eagles’ 7-4 Game 1 win.
Wojtarowicz picks up first win
Looking to bounce back from a 13-9 loss to North Iowa Area, the Frontier Bobcats turned the ball over to left hander Andre Wojtarowicz in their game against Southeast. Wojtarowicz provided 4 2/3 innings, allowing three unearned runs on three hits. He walked two and struck out five in a 6-3 victory. The win was Wojtarowicz first of his college career.
Johnson off to strong start
Dylan Johnson went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored in Adrian College's season opening 10-4 win over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. As a follow-up, he put together a 2-for-4 game with two more runs scored in a 7-4 victory over Centre College.
Earle earns save
Southpaw Lucas Earle shut the door on a 4-1 Allan Hancock win over Moorpark. The Orillia native tossed two scoreless innings and gave up just one hit. He struck out two to pick up the save.
O'Halloran starts vs. FIU
The Michigan Wolverines were 3-0 on the week when they gave the ball to lefty Connor O'Halloran against Florida International University. O'Halloran delivered three scoreless innings to help his team to a 13-9 win. He surrendered one hit, walked two, and struck out two in the outing.
Ellis shuts down Longwood
In his second start of the season, left-hander Campbell Ellis threw four scoreless innings in VCU's 8-3 midweek win over Longwood. Ellis conceded three hits and struck out three.
Marriott makes presence felt
Zack Marriott chipped in two hits, a walk and two RBIs in Hendrix College's doubleheader split with Saint Thomas. He legged out a triple in a 5-0 win. Marriott is hitting .393 with a 1.156 OPS through nine games in 2022.
Russell makes college debut
Right-hander Julian Russell made his college debut for Alderson Broaddus in their 4-0 loss to Kutztown. Russell threw 2/3 of an inning and allowed an unearned run. He walked two and struck out two.
Abram hurls scoreless inning
Ben Abram came out of the bullpen in the ninth inning in Game 1 of Oklahoma's series with Northwestern State. The big right-hander spun a scoreless inning in a 4-2 loss.
