Spring Training 2020 is right around the corner!

This will be the 15th consecutive year that the Terriers will fly to Florida for their annual Spring Break trip.

Over the past 15 years, the Terriers have spent ‎a week at several different venues for practices and games versus some of the top Florida high schools, NCAA DII, NJCAA DI + II and NAIA programs in the country.

The first trip‎ in 2006 was to Fort Lauderdale. It was just the 18u Terriers in those days. The highlight of the week was a game versus #8 nationally ranked Miami-Dade NJCAA D1 Junior College. The Terriers were very competitive in a 9-5 loss. That Miami-Dade team had 11 players that went on to play professional baseball.

The 2013 trip was a baseball circus. That was RHP Cal Quantrill and LHP Travis Seabrooke's draft year. The day they were slated to pitch 29 MLB teams were represented by scouts, cross checkers and general managers. Radar guns completely encompassed the backstop. Three months later, in June Travis was drafted in the fourth round by the Baltimore Orioles. He signed.

Cal was drafted by the Yankees but had committed to Stanford and made his way to campus in August. Going the university route paid off for Cal as he was MLB's 8th overall pick three years later.

Since then, West Palm Beach, Lantana and Melbourne‎ have been home to the Terriers. On the leisure side during down time, our teams have also visited several MLB Spring‎ Training complexes, taking in work outs and games.

For the past three winters the Terriers have made Baseball City in St. Petersburg their Spring Training facility of choice. It is the former home of the Tampa Bay Rays (MLB) Spring Training Camp.
