This past week Matt Brown committed to NJCAA D1 Frontier College in Illinois.
He is a mature young man with undeniable work ethic, desire and perseverance. This scholarship is a tribute to him and his family.
A right-hander who checks in at 6'3", 235 pounds, he is an imposing mound presence. His fastball is heavy and consistently clocks upper 80s. He pitches to both sides of the plate with outstanding command of his three-pitch mix.
He has been with the Terriers for three years and can always be counted on for a quality outing when he is handed the ball.
The Frontier Bobcats compete in Region 24, NJCAA D1 and are located in Fairfield, Ill. The college was founded in 1976 and is a member of a group of Illinois Eastern Community Colleges.
Over the past four years the Bobcats have sent over 40 players to the next level ranging from NAIA to NCAA D1.
They will open their 2021 slate at Southwest Tennessee College.
Matt has been in the thick of all the major baseball events Ontario has to offer over the past couple of years. Recently he pitched three innings at the CPBL All-Star weekend and struck out three.
The 2019 season was also an exceptional for Matt. He fired a no-hitter in late June, and also competed at the Oklahoma JR Sunbelt Tournament and T12 at Rogers Centre.
On the academic side, he was a 2016 Student of Excellence and has been on the Honour Roll all four years in high school. He will take an Associate in Science at Frontier.
