The Walker Files: 32nd best Park Adjusted OPS in history
By Tracy Ringolsby
Larry Walker is on the Hall of Fame ballot for the eighth time. He has never received even 25 percent of the vote, much less than the 75 percent required for induction.
His challenge? Voters not getting hung up on the Coors Field factor, and evaluating what he accomplished in his career. One way is to check out the park adjusted figures at Baseball-reference.com.
How did he fare in Park Adjusted figures based on National League ballparks?
— OPS, .922, 32nd. Players on current ballot ahead of him: Barry Bonds, Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, Edgar Martinez and Vladimir Guerrero.
— Slugging Percentage, .539, 28th. Players on current ballot ahead of him: Bonds, Ramirez and Guerrero.
–Batting Average, .299, 98th. Players on current ballot ahead of him: Edgar Martinez (.308), Barry Bonds (.301), Manny Ramirez (.301) and Chipper Jones (.297).
All of that despite being tied for 234th in games played with 2,046.
