KITCHENER, Ont. - Thursday Night IBL Baseball is returning to the airwaves in the Waterloo Region.
The Kitchener Panthers are pleased to announce it will once again team up with local radio station 98.5 CKWR FM to broadcast every Thursday night home game at Jack Couch Park this season. It is the second year of the partnership between the team and the station.
"The Kitchener Panthers, a community-owned IBL baseball team, are very pleased to once again have our community radio station CKWR broadcast our Thursday evening games," said Panthers general manager Mike Boehmer. "Please tune in the 98.5 FM to enjoy Mark Pare and Neil Srivastava calling the games.”
All in all, there are 10 home games scheduled on Thursday nights throughout the season. All Panthers home games also stream live on the team's YouTube channel.
The live stream features a pregame show, where Pare and Srivastava tee up the matchup and take a look at the latest happenings around the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL).
Mark Pare returns to his post as the play-by-play voice of the team, alongside colour analyst Neil Srivastava.
This will be Pare's fourth year on the mic with the Panthers. He brings over a decade of sports broadcasting experience to the table. He is also the voice of the Six Nations Chiefs in Major Series Lacrosse, and the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women's hockey team. Pare is the regular colour commentator for the Guelph Storm on RogersTV.
Srivastava has been around the IBL in a number of capacities since the 1990's, from writing to broadcasting and much more. He spent many years with the IBL's Guelph Royals organization, and also calls games for the IBL's Hamilton Cardinals. This will be his second year broadcasting with the Panthers organization.
More announcements about the Panthers broadcast are expected closer to the season.
