The Detroit Tigers recalled Jim Adduci from the triple-A Toledo Mud Hens following their win over the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Monday.
The Burnaby, B.C. was batting .309 with seven home runs in 70 minor league games for the Mud Hens.
The 33-year-old was in the Tigers' lineup on Tuesday and went 1-for-4 with a run in the opening game of the Tigers' series against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Adduci enjoyed three separate major league stints with the Tigers in 2017, but he spent the last portion of the season in triple-A. In 29 contests with the Tigers last season, Adduci went 20-for-83 (.241 batting average) and finished with a .323 on-base percentage (OBP).
The 6-foot-2 first baseman/outfielder previously played parts of two seasons with the Texas Rangers in 2013 and 2014, batting a combined .189 in 61 games.
Selected by the Florida Marlins in the 42nd round of the 2003 MLB Draft, Adduci, who has now played parts of 15 professional seasons, has also had stints in the Marlins and Cubs organizations.
He enjoyed his greatest professional success with the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization in 2015 when he batted .314 with 28 home runs and 106 RBI in 132 games.
