MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior right-handed pitcher Madison Jeffrey and junior left-hander Adam Tulloch (Toronto, Ont.) of the West Virginia University baseball team were selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers on the final day of the 2021 MLB Draft on Tuesday.

Jeffrey was taken by the defending World Series champions in the 15th round (462nd overall), before Tulloch became the club's second WVU pick of the day in the 17th round (522nd overall). It marks the second time in as many days that two Mountaineers were taken by the same team in a draft, after senior left-handed pitcher Jackson Wolf and junior right-hander Ryan Bergert were selected by the San Diego Padres in the fourth and sixth round, respectively, on Monday.

With the selections, West Virginia has now had 102 players chosen in the MLB Draft all-time, including 32 during coach Randy Mazey's tenure (2013-present). Additionally, WVU's four 2021 draftees are its most since 2019, when a record eight Mountaineers were chosen.

Jeffrey finished 2-2 with a 6.75 ERA in 18 appearances out of the bullpen for the Mountaineers in 2021. In 20 innings of work, he struck out 28 and tallied four saves, good for a share of the team lead. Overall, the Barboursville, West Virginia, native has logged 36 career appearances from 2019-21, all in relief. He is 2-4 with a 5.79 ERA in his Mountaineer career, tossing 47 strikeouts in 37.1 total innings.

Additionally, Jeffrey becomes the Mountaineers' first West Virginia native to be taken in the MLB Draft since Chase Illig in 2019.

Tulloch went 0-4 with a 6.27 ERA at West Virginia last spring. A transfer from the College of Central Florida, he made 13 appearances in his lone season in the Gold and Blue in 2021, including eight starts. He logged 37 1/3 innings on the mound and struck out 52, good for No. 3 on the team.

WVU's four pitchers taken in this year's MLB Draft are the most since 2019, when Alek Manoah (first round – Toronto Blue Jays), Nick Snyder (11th round – Arizona Diamondbacks), Kade Strowd (12th round – Baltimore Orioles) and Sam Kessler (34th round – Detroit Tigers) all were selected in the same draft.
