OCONOMOWOC, WI – The Winnipeg Goldeyes outlasted the Lake Country DockHounds in a 14-12 slugfest Sunday afternoon at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park.

Combined with Sioux Falls’ loss, the win pulled the Goldeyes (46-35) into a tie for first place in the West Division ahead of a crucial three-game series with the Sioux Falls Canaries later this week.

Box Score

The runs came early and often, with Lake Country (38-42) scoring four times in their first at-bat on a three-run double by first baseman Curtis Terry and a run-scoring two-bagger by designated hitter Marek Chlup.

The Goldeyes answered with a vengeance in the top of the second inning, sending 13 batters to the plate and scoring nine times. Third baseman Dayson Croes hit a double and a triple in the frame, driving in two. Left fielder Roby Enríquez had a two-run double, and first baseman Rob Emery knocked in one with a double of his own.

The DockHounds got two of those runs back in the third on a two-run home run by third baseman Josh Altmann, before tallying three more in the fifth to even the score at 9-9.

Shortstop Ramón Bramasco hit a two-run blast in the top of the sixth and was followed by a solo home run by Emery that gave Winnipeg a 12-9 lead.

With the score 12-10 in the eighth, Emery recorded his third and fourth runs batted in of the day with a base hit that brought in Bramasco and right fielder Max Murphy.

Lake Country did not go quietly, however, as a two-out, two-run home run by right fielder JT Benson cut the Goldeyes’ lead to two. The game ended with the tying run at first base.

There were 14 extra-base hits in the game – five home runs, a triple, and eight doubles. All but two players recorded at least one hit.

Nick Trogrlic-Iverson (Oakville, Ont.) earned the victory in relief of Mitchell Lambson. Trogrlic-Iverson entered in the fifth and went 2 1/3 innings, allowing a run on one hit.

Braden Boisvert was charged with the loss, having given up the round-trippers in the sixth. He surrendered three runs on three hits over four innings, striking out seven.

Lambson was acquired earlier Sunday from the Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican Baseball League. He won an American Association championship with the Goldeyes in 2017 and was named the league’s Pitcher of the Year following the 2019 season, during which he went 13-4 with a 3.11 earned run average.
