After announcing that Raphaël Gladu had re-signed with them earlier in the week, the Frontier League’s Trois-Rivières Eagles have signed Louis-Philippe Pelletier for the 2022 season.

For manager Matthew Rusch, this is an important acquisition, since Pelletier, a Montreal native, was one of L’Equipe Quebec’s best hitters in 2021, ranking among the team leaders in batting average (.328), doubles (27), triples (7), runs scored (85) and stolen bases (40).

A 38th round pick of the San Diego Padres in 2014 and a 20th round pick in 2016 by the Houston Astros, the 25-year-old outfielder excelled in 2021 despite not having played professionally since 2016.

"We knew he was an excellent baseball player and he responded very well with an extraordinary season. The more the season progressed, the more he stood out from the rest in his work ethic and speed while playing with a few injuries," said Rusch. "He's definitely the type of player we need to develop a winning culture in our dressing room.”
