Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release

The Hamilton Cardinals have signed right-hander Sam Turcotte (Toronto, Ont).

The 6-foot-5 Turcotte joins the Cardinals after graduating in 2021 from Stony Brook University. In his senior year, Turcotte went 6-3 with a 2.93 ERA with 66 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings.

Turcotte was a member of the Canadian Junior National Team in 2015 and 2016 along with the newest Cardinal Tyler Duncan (Sooke, BC). Turcotte also pitched four summers for the Ontario Terriers and is now helping coach that program.

“Sam is a great addition to the Cardinals,” said Cards GM Jeff Lounsbury. “He is a smart pitcher, he is a strike thrower and he has a calm about him with an inner fire to succeed. He has so many intangibles as a pitcher that I am sure many of our younger pitchers will learn a lot from. He is one of Ontario’s top pitchers and we are so happy to have him here in Hamilton.”

Hamilton will kick off their 2022 season on the road against the Red Sox in Brantford on May 20 and against the Barrie Baycats on May 21. The home opener for the Cardinals will go May 22 when the team hosts the Guelph Royals.
