Ontario Terriers

A pair of Ontario Terriers alumni will continue their professional careers in Canada in 2022.

Infielder Elliott Curtis (Waterloo, Ont.) will make the short trip across the Ontario/Quebec border after signing with the Ottawa Titans of the Frontier League.

Initially signed by Ottawa before last season, he was later assigned to Equipe Quebec in April for the 2021 campaign after it was determined the Titans would be unable to field a team due to the uncertainty around COVID-19 border restrictions. Equipe Quebec consisted of players from Ottawa, Quebec and Trois Rivieres, and competed in the Atlantic Division. The team began the season on a 77-day, 18-series road trip and Curtis would go on to put up a .244 average with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 26 games.

Prior to playing for Quebec, the smooth swinging left-handed hitter spent two seasons at the University of Kentucky. Over 48 career games in Lexington, he amassed a .295 average. Curtis is excited to get the season underway, especially with home games taking place on Canadian soil.

"I'm really looking forward to playing professionally again this summer with the bonus of being in a great Canadian city like Ottawa," Curtis said. "I expect this to be an exciting season for our team and the city with it being our inaugural season in the Frontier League."

Seabrooke re-ups with Goldeyes

On the mound, left-hander Travis Seabrooke, a former Baltimore Orioles fifth round pick and six-year minor leaguer, has re-signed with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association of Professional Baseball. Seabrooke, a Peterborough, Ont., native, appeared in 44 games out of the bullpen in 2021 posting a 6-0 record to go along with a 4.14 ERA. The 6-foot-6 southpaw struck out 54 in 45 2/3 innings.

Before signing with the Orioles, Seabrooke had committed to play college baseball for the NCAA Division I Boston College Eagles.
