U-18 World Cup: Canada loses to Korea to end Opening Round

SARASOTA, Florida - The Junior National Team saw their last game of the Opening Round at the 2022 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup slip away as Korea put up an 11-run sixth inning to lock in a 13-0 win. 

Korea’s pitchers limited Canada’s offence to just three hits.

Félix Morin (Quebec City, Que.) was the starting pitcher for Canada. In five innings, the left-hander limited the Korean offence to two runs, only one of them earned, on four hits while striking out four.

Sam White (Aurora, Ont.) and Max Hartman (St. Albert, Alta.) both went 1-for-2 at the plate while Ty Hamilton (Orleans, Ont.) went 1-for-1 with a walk.

With the loss, Canada finishes the Opening Round 1-4 and will move on to the Placement Round where they will match-up against Australia, Italy and Panama, and carry over Opening Rounds results including a win over South Africa and a loss to Brazil, to determine spots seven through 12.
