With a win in a very close game (thanks to a strong pitching staff), the Vancouver Canadians moved out in front of the Eugene Emeralds 2-1 in their best-of-five series.
Vancouver Canadians 2, Eugene Emeralds 1
The Vancouver Canadians (2-1) got down early to the Eugene Emeralds but scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a lead in their Northwest League Finals series with a 2-1 victory.
Brock Lundquist continues to swing a hot bat, going 1/3 with a home run for the Canadians. Kacy Clemens was 1/2 with a walk and the club's other RBI on a ground out in the fourth. Norberto Obeso hit a double, going 1/3 and that was the only other hit the Canadians had.
An excellent pitching performance got the Canadians through the game with the win. Nate Pearson started, tossing four innings of one-run ball, allowing three hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Graham Spraker got the win for throwing a scoreless fifth and Travis Bergen provided 2 2/3 innings relief, allowing just a hit and two walks with four strikeouts. William Ouellette got the save, stranding two runners and striking out one in 1 1/3 innings.
