Daoust belts grand slam to lead Grey to 14-11 win at JNT camp

AJAX, Ontario – After nearly 18 months of inactivity because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Junior National Team program has resumed in-person baseball activities with a Training Camp at the Ajax Sportsplex, site of the 2015 Pan Am Games.

Thirty-eight athletes are in camp with fourteen inter-squad games scheduled from August 19-September 1 at 1:30PM each day.

Following camp, a roster will be selected from training camp participants to play in a seven-game friendship series against the United States’ 18U squad in Florida.

August 24 – CANADA GREY 14, CANADA RED 11 (BOX SCORE)

Louka Daoust (Repentigny, Que.) belted an eighth inning grand slam and had five RBI as Canada Grey outlasted Canada Red, 14-11, in an all-out offensive affair.

Sam White (Aurora, Ont.) helped Grey, driving in four runs including a two-run double in the fourth while Jacob Zibin (Langley, BC) went 3-for-4 with two runs driven in.

Caleb Clark (Orillia, Ont.) had a day at the plate for Red belting a solo home run in the ninth and led off the seventh with a triple to eventually score the tying run as both clubs were deadlocked after seven.

Nate Ochoa (Burlington, Ont.) drove in three runs while Ty Doucette (Dartmouth, N.S.) and Kayden Hleucka (Medicine Hat, Alta.) knocked in two apiece.
