AJAX, Ontario – After nearly 18 months of inactivity because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Junior National Team program has resumed in-person baseball activities with a Training Camp at the Ajax Sportsplex, site of the 2015 Pan Am Games.

Thirty-eight athletes are in camp with fourteen inter-squad games scheduled from August 19-September 1 at 1:30PM each day.

Following camp, a roster will be selected from training camp participants to play in a seven-game friendship series against the United States’ 18U squad in Florida.

August 30 – CANADA RED 1, CANADA GREY 1 (BOX SCORE)

An old-fashioned pitcher’s duel took place on Monday with six pitchers combining to allow just two runs and six hits as Canada Grey and Canada Red tied, 1-1.

Red opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a Nate Ochoa (Burlington, Ont.) solo home run before Caleb Clark’s (Orillia, Ont.) sac-fly in the seventh cashed in Oliver Mabee (Victoria, BC) who had doubled to lead off the inning.

Chase Marshall (Surrey, BC) allowed the homer to Ochoa but that was the only damage in his 3 1/3 innings outing where he struck out five while Parker Burgess (Douro-Dummer, Ont.) worked four scoreless innings allowing just a pair of walks while fanning five.

For Red, Owen Millar (Burlington, Ont.) was unhittable over five innings of work where he walked two and struck out five batters while Alexis Gravel (Repentigny, Que.) gave up just one hit and struck out one batter over two innings.

Conor Pote (Sherwood Park, Alta.) allowed one run on one hit and had one strikeout in two innings of work.
