AJAX, Ontario – After nearly 18 months of inactivity because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Junior National Team program has resumed in-person baseball activities with a Training Camp at the Ajax Sportsplex, site of the 2015 Pan Am Games.

Thirty-eight athletes are in camp with fourteen inter-squad games scheduled from August 19-September 1 at 1:30PM each day.

Following camp, a roster will be selected from training camp participants to play in a seven-game friendship series against the United States’ 18U squad in Florida.

August 21 – CANADA GREY 6, CANADA RED 4 (BOX SCORE)

Alexis Gravel (Repentigny, Que.) was a one-man show, pitching three hitless innings with six strikeouts while belting a two-run triple in the fourth inning as part of a two-hit day to lead Canada Grey to a 6-4 victory over Canada Red.

An error in the top of the sixth was the only runner that would reach off Gravel as he proceeded to get the next batter on a fielder’s choice before striking out two batters and worked perfect frames in the seventh and eighth innings.

Nate Ochoa (Burlington, Ont.) picked up a pair of hits for Grey and scored one run while Myles Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.), Cameron Gurney (Scotland, Ont.) and Jacob Miller (Oshawa, Ont.) were credited with RBI.

Colin Cymbalista (Pickering, Ont.) put Canada Red up early in the second with a two-run homer to left off Grey starter Liam Adamson (London, Ont.) while Cameron Chee-Aloy (Toronto, Ont.) and Sam White (Aurora, Ont.) each doubled and had two hits apiece.
