Votto records 800th career extra-base hit

Cincinnati Reds slugger Joey Votto (Etobicoke, Ont.) recorded his 800th major league extra-base hit on Monday to become just the second Canadian to reach that milestone. Larry Walker (Maple Ridge, B.C.) was the first.

Canadian slugger Joey Votto recorded his 800th major league extra-base hit to help the Cincinnati Reds to a 7-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at The Great American Ballpark last night.

With that, the Etobicoke, Ont., native becomes just the second Canadian to reach that milestone. Larry Walker (Maple Ridge, B.C.) is the all-time leader among Canadians with 916 extra-base hits.
