Warden, Alarid snag WCBL Player of the Week awards

The Western Canadian Baseball League has announced the Players of the Week for week five of the season (July 1st – July 7th).

Claiming the Hitter of the Week was Lethbridge Bulls first baseman, Kaleb Warden after he posted a batting average of .438, with three home runs, 12 RBI’s, and an OPS of 1.526. In a game against the Brooks Bombers on July 3rd, the slugging lefty hit three homers, two of which were grand slams and drove in 10 RBI’s. Warden capped off his week at the WCBL All-Star game, where he won the Home Run Derby, after cranking nine homers.

Austin Alarid of the Regina Red Sox is the Pitcher of the Week after he tossed eight innings, allowing only three hits, while striking out seven during his time on the mound in a start against the Brooks Bombers. The lefty now holds a record of 3-0 for the season, with an ERA of 2.70 in 26 2/3 innings pitched.
