OTTAWA – The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced world rankings for both women’s and men’s baseball following the conclusion of the 2019 international baseball season.

Coming off a third place finish at the 2019 COPABE Women’s Baseball Pan Am Championships and following bronze and silver medals at the 2018 and 2016 WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cups, respectively, the Women’s National Team has maintained their No. 2 world ranking trailing only No. 1 Japan.

The Women’s National Team program has medaled at four consecutive sanctioned international baseball competitions starting with a silver medal performance at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto and will look to continue their winning-ways in 2020 at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in Monterrey, Mexico in September.

On the men’s side, Canada has fallen two spots from No. 10 to No. 12 after a silver medal performance at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru before being eliminated in the opening round at Premier 12 last November.

The Junior National Team program finished sixth at the WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup in Korea last September.

The WBSC Baseball World Rankings measure National Team performance — from U-12 to Professional — in WBSC-sanctioned international competitions over a four-year period.
