WCBL announces 2020 schedule

The Western Canadian Baseball League has released its 2020 summer collegiate schedule.
As in 2019, the WCBL will offer 56 games in the regular season, 28 home games for the Dawgs at Seaman Stadium, followed by best-of-three playoffs leading to the Western and Eastern Division finals and ultimately the WCBL Championship Series.
The defending champion Okotoks Dawgs will begin their defense of the WCBL Championship with a three-game series on the road in Edmonton from Friday, May 29 to Sunday, May 31.
The Dawgs’ home opener will match the Dawgs against southern rival, the Lethbridge Bulls, on Wednesday, June 3. The home opener begins a five-game home stand with games at Seaman Stadium on Thursday, June 4 and Friday, June 5 against the Moose Jaw Miller Express and a home stand finale against the Edmonton Prospects on Saturday, June 6.
Feature games during the season will include a two-game series rematch of the 2019 Championship series between the Dawgs and the Regina Red Sox on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, Father’s Day, June 21.
Another key matchup during the 2020 season will be a two-game, Canada Day, series against the always tough Swift Current 57’s. Dawgs will host the 57’s at Seaman Stadium on Wednesday, July 1 (Canada Day) followed by a Fireworks Display with a rematch back at Seaman on Thursday, July 2.
The August long weekend will start on Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31 with home games against Edmonton, Saturday, August 1 against Medicine Hat and Sunday, August 2 against Lethbridge.
Another 2020 highlight will be the WCBL All-Star Game Weekend slated for Edmonton from Saturday, July 18 to Monday, July 20.
The WCBL playoffs will start on August 8, 2020.
