WCBL playoffs: Dawgs, Bulls, Red Sox advance

West Division
(4) Edmonton Prospects vs (1) Okotoks Dawgs | 0 – 5
Okotoks Wins Series 2-1
The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Edmonton Prospects 5-0 to move on to the West Division Finals where they will take on the Lethbridge Bulls.
Tanner Simpson tossed a complete game shutout for the Dawgs, putting the team on his back, striking out 11 and only allowing six hits.
The victory was backed up by first baseman, Dane Tofteland, who finished the ballgame 2-4 with two runs scored and designated hitter, William Hollis, who provided an RBI in a 2-4 effort.
The Okotoks Dawgs will take on the Lethbridge Bulls in the West Division Finals, with game one starting Sunday, August 11th in Okotoks at 7:05 p.m.
(3) Medicine Hat Mavericks vs (2) Lethbridge Bulls | 0 – 3
Lethbridge Wins Series 2-1
The Lethbridge Bulls took down the Medicine Hat Mavericks 3-0 to move on to the West Division Finals where they will meet the Okotoks Dawgs.
Dylan Emmons got the start for the Bulls, tossing six innings of three-hit ball, striking out three during his time on the mound, before Tevin Hall took things over in the seventh, tossing two innings, striking out three. Closing things out was Evan O’Toole, who struck out two Mavericks batters, earning the save to complete the victory.
Bulls catcher, Roger Riley had three hits in the ballgame as he went 3-4 with a stolen base.
The Lethbridge Bulls will take on the Okotoks Dawgs in the West Division Finals, with game one starting Sunday, August 11th in Okotoks at 7:05 p.m., before heading home for game two, which will be played on Monday, August 12th at Spitz Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
East Division
(1) Moose Jaw Miller Express vs (1) Regina Red Sox | 3 – 6
Regina Wins Series 2-1
The Regina Red Sox scored five runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Moose Jaw Miller Express 6-3, taking the series 2-1 and will now play the Swift Current 57’s in the East Division Finals.
Grant Dowty was dominate on the mound for the Red Sox as he tossed the first 6 2/3 innings of the ballgame, striking out four and allowing only two earned runs. Heibert Romero came in relief of Dowty in the seventh, tossing 2/3 of an inning, before handing things off to Jackson Cofer to close things out.
Red Sox infielder, Adam De La Cruz had a terrific day at the plate, going 3-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
The Regina Red Sox will take on the Swift Current 57’s in the East Division Finals, with game one starting Sunday, August 11th in Regina at 7:05 p.m.
