Edmonton Prospects vs Lethbridge Bulls | 1 – 2
The Lethbridge Bulls defeated the Edmonton Prospects 2-1 after a walk-off single from catcher Roger Riley in the bottom of the ninth. The victory gives the Bulls some breathing room in the WCBL’s West Division where they currently sit in second place, leading the fifth place Edmonton Prospects by 2.5 games.
Right-handed pitcher, Logan Bexten got the start for Lethbridge, tossing seven innings, striking out six, before Chase Florendine came in to throw the final two innings work, not allowing a hit while striking out three.
Bulls first baseman, Kaleb Warden hit his 11th homer of the season as he finished the ballgame 1-4. Warden now sits only one homer behind the league leader, Weyburn Beavers designated hitter, Jack Barrie. The Frisco, Texas native now holds a slash line of .406/.486/.727 with 11 home runs and 57 RBIs for the season.
Fort McMurray Giants vs Regina Red Sox | 1 – 5
The first place Regina Red Sox continue to roll as they took down the Fort McMurray Giants 5-1 and now hold of record of 7-3 in their last 10 games.
Austin Alarid received the start for the Red Sox, throwing six innings of work, striking out two Giants batters, before Mark Lopez came in to toss the final three innings, shutting down Fort McMurray hitters, not allowing a hit, while striking out five.
Red Sox catcher, Chris Diehl finished the ballgame with two doubles and two runs scored as he went 2-4, while his teammate, Ivan Nunez went 2-5 with an RBI.
Weyburn Beavers vs Brooks Bombers | 11 – 9
The Weyburn Beavers remain in the hunt for top spot in the WCBL’s East Division as they defeated the Brooks Bombers 11-9 and now only trail the Regina Red Sox by one game.
Beavers righty, Christian Vick was on the mound to begin things for Weyburn as he tossed seven innings of work while striking out 10 Bombers batters. Seth Pigg and Shandon Herrera pitched the final two innings, each striking out a batter.
Outfielder Garret Perez had a terrific day at the plate for Weyburn, reaching base five times, finishing the ballgame 3-4 with a walk, a HBP and two RBIs.
Moose Jaw Miller Express vs Medicine Hat Mavericks | 5 – 8
The Medicine Hat Mavericks downed the Moose Jaw Miller Express 8-5, improving their record to 21-20 for the season, as the Miller Express fall to 20-19.
Owen Steele was the starter for Medicine Hat, throwing seven innings while striking out four, before Zach Mcdermott came in to toss 1/3 of an inning, with Garrett Nicholson finishing things off, tossing 1 2/3’s innings, not allowing a hit.
Mavericks third baseman, Collin Klingensmith finished the ballgame 3-4 with a run scored and two RBIs as first baseman, Sal Rodriguez went 2-4 with two RBIs.
Yorkton Cardinals vs Swift Current 57’s | 1 – 9
The Swift Current 57’s now sit only two games back of the first place Regina Red Sox as they defeated the Yorkton Cardinals 9-1 and now hold a record of 26-15, as the Cardinals fall to 4-35.
Zachary Patterson was the starter for Swift Current, tossing seven innings of work, striking out five, before Garrett Alexander and Breyden Eckout threw the final two innings.
Breyden Eckout and Jared Binsfield each crushed homers in the victory as Eckout finished the ballgame 1-4 with three RBIs and Binsfield finished 4-4 with a double and three RBIs.
