Lethbridge Bulls vs Fort McMurray | 6 – 1

The Fort McMurray Giants continue to falter as they lost their fifth in a row to the hands of the Lethbridge Bulls. The Giants now find themselves on the outside of the playoff picture looking in as they sit 1 GB of the Edmonton Prospects. The Bulls improved their record to 24-20, good enough for second place in the WCBL’s West Division.

Ben Erwin was the starter for the Bulls tossing eight dominating innings, while allowing only two hits, striking out eight Giants batters on the day. Evan O’Toole pitched the final inning for the Bulls, allowing only one hit.

Bulls third baseman, Dylan Borman hit his ninth home run of the season, finishing the day 1-4 with three RBIs as second baseman, Ashton Roy finished the ballgame 3-4 with a walk and a run scored.

Medicine Hat Mavericks vs Edmonton Prospects | 5 – 9

The Edmonton Prospects got a much needed victory as they defeated the Medicine Hat Mavericks 9-5, bringing their record up to 21-22 for the season and now sit ahead of the Fort McMurray Giants by one game for the final playoff spot in the West Division.

Austin Cannedy started for the Prospects, only getting through 4 1/3 innings as he allowed three earned runs, surrendering five hits during his time on the mound. Matthew Erikson came in relief for Edmonton, throwing 1 1/3 innings, striking out three batters, before Brendan Owens and David Wylie thew the final three innings of work.

Prospects shortstop, Javier Ramirez reached base three times in his teams victory, going 2-4 with a walk, a double and an RBI.

Okotoks Dawgs vs Yorkton Cardinals | 6 – 5

The Yorkton Cardinals brought a three run lead into the ninth inning against the first place Okotoks Dawgs, but the Dawgs came storming back scoring four, eventually giving them the 6-5 victory. `The Cardinals now fall to 4-38 for the season as the Dawgs improve to 33-10.

Right-handed pitcher, Tanner Simpson was the starter for the Dawgs, throwing six innings, allowing five earned runs, before Brandon Desjardins and Dustin Schorie came in relief and shut things down, tossing the final three innings of work, allowing only one hit each.

Dawgs designated hitter, Jaxon Valcke had a terrific day at the plate, finishing the ballgame 4-4 with two RBI’s and a stolen base.

Weyburn Beavers vs Moose Jaw Miller Express | 3 – 12

The Moose Jaw Miller Express downed the Weyburn Beavers, bringing their record back to the .500 mark as they sit 21-21 for the season, good enough for fourth in the East Division.

Nico Portillo was the Miller Express’ starter, tossing five innings, striking out two, before Michael Ross, Jaden Hofmann and Jack Gamba completed the final four innings work, shutting down Beavers batters the rest of the way, allowing only two hits as a group.

Miller Express outfielder, Michael Borst reached base five times in his teams victory, finishing the ballgame 4-4 with a walk, a double and two RBIs.

Swift Current 57’s vs Regina Red Sox | 2 – 3

The first place Regina Red Sox continue to roll, as they won their fourth straight, defeating the Swift Current 57’s 3-2. The Red Sox now lead the East Division by three games as they sit with a record of 30-12.

Grant Dowty was the starter for the Red Sox, throwing six innings of work, striking out four, before Nick Ferngren, Heibert Romero and Jackson Cofer tossed an inning each to earn the win.

Red Sox outfielder, Ryan Eastburn had a great day at the plate, reaching base three times in his teams victory, going 2-3 with a HBP and a run scored.

Brooks Bombers vs Melville Millionaires | 3 – 5

The Melville Millionaires defeated the Brooks Bombers 5-3, bringing their record to 15-28 for the season as the Bombers fall further in West Division with a record of 11-30.

Tanner Solomon tossed seven innings of work for the Millionaires, striking out eight Bombers batters, before Chris Lacher came in to throw the final two innings in the win.

Millionaires outfielder, Sam Cassel finished the ballgame 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored, as his teammate Braeden Dobbs went 1-4 with a triple and two RBIs.
