Melville Millionaires 4 Swift Current 57’s 1 (GAME ONE)
In game one of the Thursday’s double-header the Melville Millionaires picked up their 11th win of the season, defeating the Swift Current 57’s by a score of 4-1. The win drops the 57’s to 16-11, while the Millionaires bring their record up to 11-16.
Millionaires catcher, Jake Green cranked a homer in the victory, picking up two RBI’s and a walk, finishing the game 1-2, as left fielder, Ryan Moormeyer went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Luke Summers got the start for Melville, tossing three innings, striking out five, but it was his teammate, Tracy Warren picking up the “win” after he completed the final six innings of the ballgame, striking out three.
Swift Current 57’s 8 Melville Millionaires 5
Ian McIntyre hit his first homer of the season, finishing the night 1-4, as the Swift Current 57’s snagged game two of the double-header, 8-5. The win brings the 57’s only three games back of the WCBL’s East Division, with a record of 17-11, while the Millionaires fall to 11-17.
Isiah Campa got the start for the victorious 57’s, pitching three innings of work, striking out four batters and only allowing four hits during his time on the mound. Aaron Pugh came in relief, tossing 1 2/3 innings, allowing all five Melville runs in the ballgame. Diego Jordan and Garrett Alexander tossed the remaining innings, giving up only one hit each.
Moose Jaw Miller Express 8 Fort McMurray Giants 7
The Moose Jaw Miller Express picked up a huge victory over the Fort McMurray Giants as they picked up the 8-7 win. The victory pads the Miller Express’ lead over the Melville Millionaires for the final playoff spot in the East Division, bringing their record to 14-12, as the Fort McMurray Giants fall to 13-15.
Moose Jaws starting pitcher and two-way star, Michael Borst picked up three RBI’s in the contest, reaching base four times, finishing the night 2-4, with two walks and a double, while also pitching seven innings. The McHenry, Illinois native delivered two strikeouts in his impressive performance.
Weyburn Beavers 11 Lethbridge Bulls 5
It was one to forget for the Lethbridge Bulls as they took the loss to the hands of the Weyburn Beavers 11-5. The win brings the Beavers to a tie with the Regina Red Sox for first place in the East Division, as the Bulls remain second in the West Division, dropping their record to 17-14.
Beavers third baseman, Dominic Bravo was impressive at the plate after going 4-6 with five RBI’s, a double, and two runs scored.
Christian Vick got the nod for the visiting Beavers tossing five innings, striking out three batters and receiving the “win” in the ballgame.
Medicine Hat Mavericks 3 Edmonton Prospects 2
The Medicine Hat Mavericks picked up their fifth straight win, defeating the Edmonton Prospects 3-2. The win moves the Mavericks ahead of the Fort McMurray Giants for third in the WCBL’s West Division, as the loss drops the Prospects out of the playoff picture.
Mavericks shortstop, PJ Garcia reached base three times in the ballgame and picked up an RBI, as his teammate Nolan Rattai cranked a double and drove in a run in the win.
Brandon Ponticelli received the start for the Mavericks, tossing five and two thirds innings, striking out two batters and allowing only five hits, before four different Medicine Hat relievers finished things off, not allowing a hit in three and one thirds innings of work.

The game was postponed to July 5th.
