Game 3 Division Finals

Eastern Division Final
Weyburn 10 at Regina 3
(Weyburn leads the series 2-1)

The Weyburn Beavers used the long ball to defeat Regina 10-3 at Currie Field in game 3 of the Eastern Division final. 

Corey Weaton and Corey Harrell homered while Felix Correa added a three-run triple to power the Beavers' offence.

Wheaton finished the night with four hits, three runs scored and a RBI. Regina’s speedy outfielder Wesley Moss lead off with a triple in the first inning and scored Regina’s first run. 

Manager Mitch MacDonald sent Peyton Burks, the senior from Arkansas Pine Bluff, to the hill to start for the Red Sox. Burks, who took the loss, threw five innings giving up nine runs on 11 hits before handing the game over to Bryan Raymond. The Arizona product had a very respectable four-inning relief appearance allowing one run on four hits while striking out three. 

Lefty Landon Mostellar started for the Weyburn Beavers and earned a seven-inning victory. The Clarksville, Tenn., native surrendered two earned runs on four hits and three walks. He also struck out four of the 29 batters he faced. 

Ken Williams came on in the eighth inning to finish out the game for the Beavers.

Game Notes:

Regina

- Erik Crossman and Antonio Torres each had 2 hits for the Sox. 

- 705 fans were at Currie Field

Weyburn

- Corey Harrell had three RBI on four hits including his third post season home run.

- Wade Weinburger now has 14 RBI in the playoffs

 

Western Division
Medicine Hat 14 at Edmonton 3
(Medicine Hat leads the series 2-1)

The Medicine Hat Mavericks erased an early Edmonton lead with 14 unanswered runs on their way to a 14-3 win.  

The Mavericks roughed up the Prospect pitching staff with 17 hits and four walks during the game. Carson Johnson and Zack Gray both had three hits and two RBI in the game. 

Anthony Cusati had a pair of hits including a run-scoring triple for Edmonton. 

Jumpei Akanuma, the Lee University product, started for the Mavericks and went seven innings in the win. Akanuma tossed 108 pitches while giving up three runs on six hits and three walks. David Viches mopped up, throwing two scoreless innings of relief. 

Edmonton starter Conner Burns lasted just 3 2/3 inning after allowing five earned runs on seven hits.

Game Notes:

Medicine Hat

- Carson Johnson reach base four times - three hits and a walk

- Jaxon Hooge contributed two hits, three RBI and two runs scored

Edmonton:

- All four members of the Prospects top of the order reached base at least once.

- Anthony Cusati had a double and a triple and a RBI
