After having their first game of the tournament postponed on Thursday, Alberta (2-0) played two games on the second day of the Women’s Invitational Championships on home soil in Okotoks, Alberta and thrilled the hometown fans with a pair of walk-off wins.

In a western Canada battle, Haylee Sidor’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh scored Ellie Jespersen from third to give Alberta a 7-6 win over BC in a game that saw BC score four runs late in the game to overcome a 6-2 deficit. Kelsey Lalor knocked in three Alberta runs while Stacy Fournier had four hits for BC.

In a wild one, Hayley Lalor knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single to give Alberta a 10-9 win over the 21U Prospects (1-2). Lalor had three hits on the game while Raine Padgham drove in three runs with a pair of doubles for the prospects.

BC (2-1) got back in the win column with a 6-3 win over Ontario 2 (0-3) in a game that saw Amanda Asay knock in two runs while Claire Eccles collected a pair of hits and scored a run. Julia Jodouin had a hit and RBI for Ontario 2.

Meanwhile, two-time defending champions Ontario (2-1) dismissed a tournament opening loss to BC on Thursday with a pair of wins earning a 15-3 win over the 21U Prospects where Kate Psota drove in three runs before getting by Québec (1-1), 8-2. Emma Carr tossed four scoreless innings in relief for Ontario and allowed just two hits and one walk.

Action continues on Saturday with medal games scheduled for Sunday.
