For the fifth time in the 14-year history of the Women’s Invitational Championships Québec and Ontario will meet for the gold medal with both squads compiling 4-1 records after round robin play.

Ontario booked their ticket to the championship contest with a wild 18-17, extra innings win over Alberta with Emily Baxter hitting a sacrifice fly to centre field that brought in Kate Psota from third base to cap a five-run bottom of the eighth after Alberta had scored four times in the top of the inning.

Emma Carr drove in four Ontario runs and also pitched three innings while Alberta’s Madison Willan went 4-for-6 with three doubles and five RBI.

Québec earned their spot in the championship contest with two wins on the day getting by the 21U Prospects, 10-8, before getting by Alberta, 3-1, where Alexane Fournier tossed 5 1/3 innings and had four strikeouts.

Québec scored two runs with two out in the bottom of the fifth to break a 1-1 tie including an RBI single from Catherine Labelle.
