Ontario captured their third consecutive Women’s Invitational Championships gold medal and ninth all-time as they defeated Québec, 6-2, at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks, Alberta.

The silver medal is Quebec’s fourth all-time.

Tylin Lee tossed five strong innings on the mound before Stephanie Ellis came in with two innings of scoreless relief to lead Ontario to victory.

Ashley Stephenson and Brittany Chan each drove in two runs for Ontario who broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fourth before adding three in the sixth.

Québec received a two-hit effort from Sophie Gagné who also tossed one inning on the mound.

In the bronze medal contest, McKinlee Kaulbach was hit-by-a-pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh which brought in the winning run to give Alberta 7-6 win over BC to claim third place.

Alberta now has bronze medals at the event in back-to-back years and eight all-time.

Alberta scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a four-run lead before BC stormed back with four runs in the top of the seventh.

Carrie Jespersen along with Kelsey and Hayley Lalor drove in two runs each for Alberta while Claire Eccles had two hits including a triple and two RBI for BC.

Ontario’s Emma Carr took home the tournament’s Top Hitter Award while Alberta athletes Ellie Jespersen and Kaitlyn Ross were awarded the Top Defensive Player and Top Catcher, respectively.
