Zdunich belts two more HRs to lead Dawgs to 43rd win

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Brooks Bombers 20-7 on Saturday night in the team’s final game of the regular season.
The Dawgs’ offence exploded in the later innings of the game as they put up a combined 11 runs in the eighth and ninth innings.
The Dawgs earned their 43rd win of the season and will look forward to their first playoff game on Monday where they will host the Bombers.
The Dawgs got offensive contributions from everyone in this game. Every starter recorded at least one hit and one RBI. Tucker Zdunich (High River, Alta.) led the team offensively with two home runs and finished 4-for-6 with four RBsI. Alex Stufft and Ruben Cedillo both had multi-hit nights and finished with one RBI. Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.)and Micah McDowell (Kentville, N.S.) also had multiple hits and multiple RBIs in the contest.
Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.) went 2-for-3 on the evening with three RBIs before being replaced.
Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) started on the mound and tossed three innings, finishing with five strikeouts and zero earned runs. Connor Robbins (Calgary, Alta.) earned his third win of the season, improving to 3-0. Relief efforts from Logan Rumberg (Okotoks, Alta.) and Sam Stuhr helped to shut down the Bombers’ offence. Infielders Jake Hoskins and Alex Stufft made their pitching debuts in the last game of the season, tossing the final two innings in the Dawgs’ victory.
The Dawgs will return home to Seaman Stadium on Monday to take on the Bombers in the first game of the first round of the WCBL playoffs.
