Jacob Zibin (Langley, BC) and Zak Szabo (Whitby, Ont.) each turned in scoreless outings on the mound, but it wasn’t enough as the Junior National Team dropped a 9-2 decision to the Houston Astros prospects.

.Zibin went three innings without allowing a hit, walked three and struck out six while Szabo scattered three hits and two walks with one strikeout over two innings of work.

Parker Burgess (Douro-Dummer, Ont.) also worked two frames and didn’t allow an earned run with three strikeouts.

Offensively, the Junior National Team had just one hit with Jakob Poturnak (Vancouver, BC) leading off the top of the seventh with a base hit to right field.

The juniors opened the scoring in the fourth, loading the bases on a pair of hit batters and walk before a fielder’s choice and wild pitch saw two runs score.

The Astros were quick to respond scoring nine times over the next three innings with Chase Marshall (White Rock, BC) on the mound where they took advantage of four hits and four walks. Marshall recorded one strikeout over 1 2/3 innings.
