Longtime Baseball Manitoba executive director retires

The Baseball Manitoba offices in Winnipeg most certainly have a different feel this week with a familiar face missing from his usual spot. An employee for 24 years with the organization and many more years spent playing, coaching and impacting the baseball scene across the province, Morgan de Peña has retired from his post as the organization’s executive director, a spot he’s held since 2000.

Clarke, Griffin, Dearing, Bergeron lead juniors over Twins' prospects

Denzel Clarke (Pickering, Ont.) drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth before Tate Dearing (White Rock, B.C.) and Viktor Bergeron (Terrebonne, Que.) combined to shut the door as the Canadian Junior National Team defeated a prospects squad from the Minnesota Twins organization, 4-3, in Extended Spring action on Tuesday. Junior National Team gains valuable experience in loss against Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays prospect squad – led by the major league battery of Marcus Stroman and Russell Martin – handed the Canadian Junior National Team an 11-3 loss at Dunedin Stadium on Saturday, but also imparted some lessons about how to compete against players who’ve already made the leap to the professional ranks.
