The Brampton Royals had a solid week in the COBA Major League going 1-1 in league play running their record to 8-10-2 on the season.

The Royals made a trip to Oakville Park to take on the Oakville A’s on Monday. This was a very back and forth game all night with both teams always answering back throughout the games. Oakville put up two runs in the first inning but the A’s were able to answer back with three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead. Oakville tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth before Brampton promptly took the lead back in the top of the fifth with two runs. Oakville put up a single run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 5-4 but Brampton answered back with a run in the top of the sixth to maintain their two run lead. Oakville, however, scored three in the bottom of the sixth to take a one run lead again. The resilient Royals squad tacked on another run in the top of the seventh to tie the game 7-7. Oakville managed another three runs in the eighth inning to take a 10-7 lead to the ninth. Brampton pushed the Oakville pitching staff hard putting up two runs but came up short in a 10-9 loss.

The Royals were right back in action on Tuesday night as they made the trip to Greg Cranker Field for a date with the Erindale Cardinals. Brampton jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead in this game putting up three runs in the first, a single run in the fourth, and followed that up with four more in the fifth. That seemed like it was going to be more than enough for Royals starter and COBA Major Week 11 Pitcher of the Week Brad McLaughlin. He was in full control in this one throwing seven innings and only giving up an unearned run on four hits. Brampton tacked on two more runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to take a commanding 12-1 lead to the bottom of the eighth. The wheels started to fall off for the Royals bullpen through as the Cardinals bats woke up to score four in the eighth off of RJ Page to cut the lead to 12-5. After a clean ninth the Cards went right back to work off of Joe Nonis as they put up six more runs off of him chasing him from the game with one out and the bases loaded. Mike Burke promptly entered the game and got the last two out of the game to save a 12-11 victory for Brampton. COBA Major Player of the Week Patrick Pinlac led the Royals with a double, a home run and two RBIs.

JAW Bats Player of the Week _ SS Patrick Pinlac of the Brampton Royals.
Pinlac played in two games during this week leading the Royals to a 1-1 record dropping a tight 10-9 contest to the Oakville A’s before edging the Erindale Cardinals 12-11. For his week, he was 4-for-8 (.500) with three doubles, and a home run. He scored four runs while collecting two RBI and also added a stolen base.
