Get ready for Naylor 2.0, here comes Noah Naylor

About 15 months ago Kyle DeGrace, a coach with the Ontario Blue Jays asked if I could spell Naylor properly yet.

We said we thought we had it nailed, or something witty like that.

“Well, get ready because his younger brother is more athletic,” said DeGrace.

No one said Noah Naylor had more power than his older brother Josh.

No one said Noah would go higher in the draft than his older brother Josh, who went 12th over all in North America to the Florida Marlins in June of 2015.

Yet, the people at Perfect Game Scouting say Noah, a catcher, athletic enough to also have played shortstop, has a bright future ... brighter than most high schoolers and he is not eligible until the 2019 draft.

In Noah’s first venture against the best his own age from across North America -- the Junior National Showcase at Jet Blue Park Stadium in Fort Myers, Fla. -- he excelled. Last fall the member of the Canadian Junior National Team attended the WWBA World championship at the Roger Dean Complex in Jupiter, Fla.

Perfect Game evaluators ranked Noah ninth on its Rawlings Top Prospects list of 68. A total of 184 players attended the camp and Noah was the only Canuck.

Batting Practice Highlights

Noah Naylor (2018 C, Mississauga, ON), the younger brother of former Perfect Game All-American and first round pick Josh Naylor, is very much a high level prospect in his own right with similarities in his swing when compared to this brother. The hands are very quick and loose, two traits that helped produce hard, line drive contact with strength coming off the barrel. He is uncommitted.

Gold vs. Green Game Highlights

Noah Naylor (2018 C, Mississauga, ON) continued to impress this showcase and connected for arguably the loudest contact of the event yet as he hit a booming triple to center field, a piece of hitting in which he got his arms extended and barrel to the ball.

2018 Top Prospects
1. Kumar Rocker  - RHP - 2018 - Watkinsville, GA - USA

Rocker has been the #1 ranked prospect in the 2018 class since last summer and he proved why he’s so highly regarded during his two innings of work. His 6-foot-5 frame has continued to strengthen physically while retaining the looseness and ease to his arm action as he was up to 93 mph and spun a hard and tight slider at 78 mph.

9. Noah Naylor  - C - 2018 - Mississauga, ON - CAN
The younger brother of former Perfect Game All-American Josh Naylor, Noah is equally as much of a prospect and appears to be the best Canada has to offer at this point. He’s a lefthanded hitter and like his brother is able to generate big whip and bat speed through the zone, though he’s also a catcher who you can project to stay back there as he topped 80 mph and popped a 1.87.
