In five games played (with a rain out), the Blue Jays’ minor leaguers won three, getting big games in the Dominican Republic and Vancouver.


Buffalo Bisons
All-Star Break

Roster Notes: LHP John Anderson was sent to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and LHP Matt Dermody took his place on the Buffalo roster, coming from the Fisher Cats.

Roster Notes: John Anderson was sent to New Hampshire and Matt Dermody made the trip up to Buffalo.


Dunedin Blue Jays 5, Bradenton Marauders 8
The Bradenton Marauders got to starter Chris Rowley for a bushel of runs and the offense couldn’t quite make up the difference despite a home run from Ryan McBroom. Rowley stayed in the game for 5 1/3 innings but allowed all eight Bradenton runs on 13 hits (including two home runs) and three walks with just one strikeout. Alonzo Gonzalez held the Maruaders to two hits with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings but allowed the runner he inherited from Rowley to score. Adonys Cardona threw a perfect frame in the eighth and Colton Turner walked two on the way to striking out the side in the ninth.

McBroom led the offense with a three-run home run in the first inning, going 1/5 while Gunnar Heidt was 2/4 with a run. Danny Jansen was 1/3 with a double and an RBI and Dickie Joe Thon was 1/3 with an RBI and a walk. Chris Colabello played his first baseball on a rehab assignment, going 1/3 with a double and a walk while Anthony Alford was 1/4 with a walk.

Roster Notes: Chris Colabello was sent on a rehab assignment to Dunedin. Starlyn Suriel was promoted from Lansing to Dunedin, Geno Encina was sent from Dunedin to Vancouver and Kirby Snead was sent from Dunedin to Lansing.


Lansing Lugnuts, Peoria Chiefs
Game postponed due to rain.

Roster Notes: RHP Jackson Lowery was promoted from Vancouver to Lansing and RHP Starlyn Suriel went from Lansing to Dunedin. Nate Abel was sent to Vancouver and Kirby Snead was sent to Lansing.


Vancouver Canadians 9, Boise Hawks 3
Thanks to a big offensive push by the middle of the order (the third through sixth spots in the order), the Canadians opened their series against the Boise Hawks with a 9-1 win. In fact, none of the other players even got a hit. Fifth-spot hitter Christian Williams hit the club’s only home run, going 2/4 with the two-run blast and driving in four runs in total. J.B. Woodman was 2/3 with a walk, scoring twice but was picked off. Jacob Anderson also had a good game, going 1/4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.

The pitching was bolstered by four double plays turned behind them as Patrick Murphy evened his record at 2-2 with six strong innings. Murphy allowed one run on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Evan Smith threw two innings of two-hit ball, striking out one and Stuart Holmes got into trouble, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk in the ninth.

Player of the Game: Christian Williams

Roster Notes: Getting assigned to Vancouver were Geno Encina (from Dunedin), Zach Jackson (from GCL), T.J. Zeuch (from GCL) and Nate Abel (from Lansing). Moving from the Canadians were Juliandry Higuera (to Bluefield) and Jackson Lowery (to Lansing) while Gabriel Clark was released.


Bluefield Blue Jays 3, Princeton Rays 8
Nash Knight led the way in a tough loss for Bluefield on Wednesday night. Knight was 3/3 with a double, a walk and two RBI and Cam O’Brien and Earl Burl III had two hits each. Burl added a walk, drove in a run and stole a base. Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. was 1/3 with a walk.

Connor Eller started and allowed a run on two hits and a walk in 2 1/3 innings. Denis Diaz came in in the third and went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts to take the loss. Angel Alicea struck out the side in the ninth but allowed three runs on two hits and two walks.

Player of the Game: Nash Knight

Roster Notes: Coming to Bluefield were Brayden Bouchey (from the GCL) and Juliandry Higuera (from Vancouver) while Mike Estevez went on the 60-day DL.


GCL Blue Jays 5, GCL Phillies 4
The GCL Blue Jays walked off with a 5-4 win over the Phillies in the 10th inning on Wednesday thanks to a Sterling Guzman single with the bases loaded. For Guzman, the game winner capped a 3/4 day that included a double and two RBI. Bo Bichette, hitting .390, also had three hits including a double and two RBI. Norberto Obeso (2/5, RBI) and Joshua Palacios (2/5, R) also had two hits each.

Wilfri Aleton was solid in six innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits and struck out two without walking anyone. Yonardo Herdenez allowed one more run but got the win, giving the club four innings of three-hit ball, walking one.

Player of the Game: Sterling Guzman and Bo Bichette

Roster Notes: The GCL Blue Jays lost Brayden Bouchey (to Bluefield), Zach Jackson (to Vancouver), and T.J. Zeuch (to Vancouver).

 
DSL Blue Jays 13, DSL Padres 2
With 11 runs in the first inning, the DSL Blue Jays got off to a flying start and never looked back, hammering the DSL Padres 13-2. Four players had two hits each while Yorman Rodriguez scored three times, drove in three and was 2/4 with a double and a walk. Jose Briceno and Andres Guerra were 2/3 with an RBI and a run and Luis De Los Santos was 2/2 with a double, a run and an RBI. Jose Theran drove in two, going 1/4 and Yhordegny Kelly was 1/4 with a double, a walk, two runs and two RBI.

Alvaro Galindo moved his record to 7-0 with five innings of one-run ball, giving up five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts, raising his ERA to 0.71. Wilton Mueses walked three batters and hit another before being lifted from the game. Only one run came around to score thanks to excellent work by Juan Bautista who stranded the bases loaded, giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in four innings of relief.

Player of the Game: Yorman Rodriguez

Roster Note: The Blue Jays signed righty Felix Cornelius and assigned him to the DSL club. They also signed Claudio Galva and placed the lefty on the 7-day DL.
