Okotoks Dawgs (4-4) dominate the Edmonton Prospects (4-3) at home.

Okotoks, Alta. _ The Dawgs’ bats came alive in Friday night’s matchup, defeating the Edmonton Prospects by a score of 8-1. The Dawgs combined for an impressive 11 hits, most of which came during an explosive sixth inning that sealed the deal for the home team. 

Turner Spears (Western University) had a quality night at the plate, recording two hits and three RBIs. Kellen Marruffo (University of Utah) did not disappoint in his first game back with the Dawgs. The Vail, Az. native logged a single and a double, as well as driving in a run. Bruce Yari (University of British Columbia) and JT Patterson (Northeastern Junior College) also had notable nights on offense with two hits apiece. 

CJ Lewington (University of Arkansas Pine Bluff) had another stellar showing on the mound, pitching eight complete innings while giving up only 5 hits and striking out 6 batters. Michael Bucci (Niagara University) came in to close out the game in the 9th inning. 

With this win, the Dawgs improve to 4-4 on the season, and now sit 2.5 games back in the Western Division. Game 2 of the series goes Sunday night, as the team looks to sweep the Edmonton Prospects. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
