OTTAWA- Ontario and Nova Scotia both improved their records to 2-0 as day two of competition took place in Halifax at the inaugural 21U Women Invitational. Quebec earned their first win of the week with a convincing win over BC, while Newfoundland & Labrador fell to 1-1 with BC and Guyana remaining winless heading into the final day of round robin competition.

Nova Scotia 15 Guyana 0

It was another historic day on the baseball field as the brand new baseball-playing nation took another step towards improving their baseball abilities against the squad from Nova Scotia. Isabelle Ladouceur (Halifax, NS) enjoyed a 2-for-2 game at the plate with a triple and drove in a pair, while Jillian Stymest (Kingston, NS) tossed three shutout innings on the mound to pick up the win in a contest that lasted four innings due to the run rule. The supportive crowd cheered as Guyana’s Emily Ramshucit picked up a base hit in the first inning for their only hit of the ballgame.

Québec 12 BC 2

Québec put up six runs in the first inning and never looked back as they cruised to a 12-2, mercy rule win that improved their record to 1-1. Pascale Jalbert (St-Honore, QC) did on the mound and at the plate as she yielded just one earned run and struck out three over three innings of work and drove in a pair of runs as part of a 1-for-2 day at the plate. Québec also received two hit games from Kim Gendron (Levis, QC) who added a double and one RBI, while Anne-Sophie Lavallée (Boucherville, QC) tripled and drove in a pair. BC’s Marika Lyszczyk (Delta, BC) had two hits and an RBI in the loss.

Ontario 16 Newfoundland & Labrador 0

Ontario made quick work of Newfoundland & Labrador putting up seven runs in the top of the first and following up with an eight spot in the second as they eventually came away with a 16-0 mercy-rule win. Emma Carr (Toronto, ON) led the 13 hit attack for Ontario with a 3-for-4 game that included a double, triple and four RBI. Jennifer Bucci (Toronto, ON) had a double as part of a 2-for-3 performance and drove in three runs, while Tess Forman (Ottawa, ON) went two and two-thirds shutout innings on the mound without allowing a hit and struck out five.
