For years there have been recruiting and scouting services offering Canadian players a place to play at U.S. schools.

Some have come and gone.

For years Danny Thompson has been placing players south of the border, first with Team Ontario and now with the Ontario Terriers.

OF Ian Choy (Mississauga, Ont.) was the first Terrier to head south when he was recruited by the Canisius College Golden Griffins in the fall of 2005.

INF Chad Marshall (Paris, Ont.) was a Terrier who headed to the Stony Brook Seawolves and left four years later as the all-time hit leader.

OF Josh Garton (Guelph, Ont.) was a Terrier who headed to Volunteer State Pioneers and later signed by Cincinnati Reds scout Bill Byckowski.

INF-C Cole Peragine (Belle Ewart, Ont.) went on to play at Stony Brook.

INF David Head (Claremont, Ont.) is with the Northern Kentucky Norse.

INF Luke Tevlin (Toronto, Ont.) is in his second year with the Binghamton Bearcarts.

And RHP Cal Quantrill (Port Hope, Ont.) headed to pitch for the Stanford Cardinal as the best arm from the program. Quantrill is the top-ranked Canadian headed into next June’s draft.

Before that with Team Ontario, Thompson arranged for INF Jeff Cowan (Toronto, Ont.) son of the infamous Cleats Cowan, headed to the  High Point University Panthers and left four years later as the all-time hits leader.

1B Eric Wolfe (Willowdale, Ont.) became a Purdue University Boilermaker and C Joel Collins (Richmond Hill, Ont.) went to the South Alabama Jaguars.

And now this year’s class, which made it through hard work, coaching from the likes of Scott Vandevalk, Dean Dicenzo, Tom Colangelo, Chris Hartery, Rick Johnston, John Milton, John McEwan, Matt Stocco, Ryan Armstrong, Omari Briscoe, Rick Gallo and Tim Gasparotto along with some help from Thompson.

That brings the total to 143 players have gone on to college (or roughly 95% off everyone who signed up) ... 143 and counting ...

And now as Mississauga North Tigers used to yell in the 1990s after a tournament win: “who’s next?”
