SURFERS PARADISE, Australia – The Junior National Team held their first workout in Surfers Paradise earlier today on the eve of an eight game exhibition series against the Australian U-18 National Team.
Both teams will use the series to determine their 20 player rosters that will compete in the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Osaka, Japan from August 28th – September 6th.

NOTES: RHP Josh Burgmann (Nanaimo, BC) is expected to start against Australia in the series opener … JNT catcher Andrew Yerzy (North York, Ont.) was named MVP of the prestigious Under Armour All-America Game, presented by Baseball Factory at Wrigley Field in Chicago after he belted a two-run homer and scored two runs in helping the National Team to a win over the American side … He will now travel to Australia and join the Junior National Team on Tuesday … JNT 1B Josh Naylor (Mississauga, ON), a first round pick of the Miami Marlins back in June, smacked his first professional home run on Saturday and it was a big one as he belted a grand slam for the GCL Marlins … Naylor will join Team Canada in Japan for the WBCS U-18 Baseball World Cup.
