Baseball Canada announces Pre U-18 World Cup Selection Camp Roster

OTTAWA, Ont. - Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of the 24 athletes invited to the Junior National Team’s (U-18) Selection Camp set to take place in Ajax, Ont., from August 20 to August 29 where 20 players will be selected to represent Canada at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup in Bradenton and Sarasota, Fla., from September 9 to September 18.

Selection camp will include daily practices in Ajax, site of the 2015 Pan Am Games, and a four-game series against a scout squad put together by the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy.

Following Selection Camp, the 20-player roster will travel to Dunedin, Fla., and the Toronto Blue Jays Player Development Complex where they will continue to train and play pre-tournament games against USA (Sept. 4 @ Pirate City), Australia (Sept. 5 @ Pirate City) and Chinese Taipei (Sept. 6 @ Blue Jays PDC).

All 24 players named to the roster have participated in previous events with the Junior National Team program.

Roster Notes

-10 players named to the roster including RHP Liam Adamson, RHP Parker Burgess, OF Cameron Chee-Aloy, INF Ty Hall, OF Ty Hamilton, OF Max Hartman, RHP Chase Marshall, INF Myles Naylor, LHP Reece Usselman and C/INF Sam White participated in the Friendship Series against Team USA in September 2021.

-Two players named to the roster were selected in the 2022 MLB Draft in July, including INF Dylan O’Rae (third round, Milwaukee) and C Hugh Pinkney (17th round, San Diego). O’Rae did sign with Milwaukee and has since began his professional career, while Pinkney has opted to attend Rutgers University.

Greg Hamilton will lead the coaching staff that includes former national team members and big leaguers Rob Butler, Pete Orr and Chris Reitsma.

Canada will open play at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup on September 9 against Korea at LECOM Park in Bradenton. The rest of the schedule can be found here.
