The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired minor league RHP Corey Copping from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for RHP John Axford (Port Dover, Ont.).

COPPING, 24, is 4-0 with a 2.52 ERA in 35 games for the Tulsa Drillers of the Texas League (AA) and the Oklahoma City Dodgers of the Pacific Coast League (AAA). The 6-1, 175 lb. right-handed pitcher has pitched 53 2/3 innings this season allowing 44 hits with 26 walks and 59 strikeouts. The native of Pasadena, Calif., owns a career record of 11-4 and a 3.37 ERA in four minor league seasons.

AXFORD, 35, is 4-1 with a 4.41 ERA in 45 games with one start for the Blue Jays this season. The 6-5, 220 lb. right-handed pitcher has pitched 51 innings this season allowing 44 hits with 20 walks and 50 strikeouts. The Port Dover, Ont., owns a career record of 38-34 with a 3.78 ERA and 144 saves in 538 games for seven different teams (2009-2018).
