Official MLB News Release

The Arizona Fall League has announced its NFP Hitter and Pitcher of the Week for games from Oct. 2-7.

Hitter of the Week: Peoria Javelinas INF Jakob Marsee (SD)

San Diego’s Jakob Marsee posted a slash line of .571/.630/1.095 during the first week of the AFL games. His batting average leads the league along with his 23 total bases – nine more than anyone else – and he is tied for the league lead in doubles (three) and home runs (two). Marsee played in five games and Peoria is 5-0-1, the only undefeated team in the league. After receiving his Hitter of the Week honour, Marsee said, “When you’re in a lineup like this, you feed off of the guys around you. I feel very lucky to be in this situation and it’s all going really well for me right now.”

Pitcher of the Week: Surprise Saguaros LHP Ricky Tiedemann (TOR)

Toronto’s Ricky Tiedemann (MLB Pipeline No. 31) dazzled in his first Fall start with five innings of one-run baseball, while racking up seven strikeouts and allowing just three hits. His total innings lead the league outright while his strikeouts are tied for the league lead. Tiedemann was one of only two pitchers to toss more than four innings in the first week of action. After receiving his Pitcher of the Week honour, Tiedemann said, “I felt really good in my first week, meeting the new guys and getting comfortable, it gave me a little juice going into my first outing. I’ve found a routine here by being around all of these guys.”

Regarded as the premier league for baseball’s top prospects, the Arizona Fall League continues to develop top-caliber talent across all 30 MLB Clubs. AFL games will be held at six Cactus League ballparks throughout the 2023 season - Camelback Ranch-Glendale, Peoria Sports Complex, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Sloan Park, Scottsdale Stadium and Surprise Stadium. The 17th annual Fall Stars Game (Sunday, Nov. 5) will be played at Sloan Park, and the AFL Championship Game (Saturday, Nov. 11) will return to Scottsdale Stadium, both being televised on MLB Network.
