WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (38-35) defeated the Milwaukee Milkmen 4-3 at Shaw Park Sunday afternoon.

Box Score

The win gave the Goldeyes – who have won six straight – a three-game sweep over the North Division leading Milkmen (46-27).

Winnipeg opened the scoring in the bottom of the second when Kevin Lachance lined a home run over the fence in left field to lead off the inning.

Milwaukee took a 2-1 lead in their half of the fourth inning on a two-run home run to left-centre by Brendon Dadson.

Max Murphy scored on wild pitch to tie the game in the home half of the sixth inning before the Goldeyes took the lead on Raul Navarro’s double to left field that brought home Kyle Martin. Dakota Conners then drove in Navarro with a single to left field to give Winnipeg a 4-2 lead.

Milkmen pinch-hitter Tony Rosselli homered just inside the left field foul pole with two out in the top of the ninth inning to cut the Goldeyes’ lead to 4-3, but Donnie Hart struck out pinch-hitter Dustyn Macaluso one batter later to earn his second save of the season.

Lethbridge, Alta., native Landen Bourassa (2-0) started for the Goldeyes and earned the victory. He worked six innings, allowing five hits, and did not give up an earned run. Milwaukee starter Ryan Zimmerman (7-5) was charged with the loss. He surrendered four earned runs on seven hits over five innings.

After a very successful homestand at Shaw Park, the Goldeyes now travel to Rosemont, Illinois where they will meet the Chicago Dogs in a three-game series that gets underway at Impact Field Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
